The Whitney has completely outdone itself with its new exhibition, ‘Dreamlands’. With artwork from over 35 different artists ranging from drawings, videos, sculptures, and 3-D interaction spaces, this exhibition is immersive, interactive, and insanely futuristic. This exhibition took up the whole entire 5th floor of the museum and had various rooms that played with light and film. Pictured in the top left is a glowing, gridded room curated by artist Hito Steyerl which was my favorite part of the whole exhibition; It’s a mini-movie theater showing videos of body movements which have been changed into computer-generated imagery. ‘Easternsports’, which is pictured the top right and bottom left photos, was another part of the exhibit that I really enjoyed. Curated by Alex Da Corte and Jayson Musson this installation has various pieces displaying animation, color, and light (neon to be specific).
